Jōgakura Bridge, Deck arch bridge in Hakkōda Mountains, Japan
The Jōgakura Bridge extends 360 meters across a deep valley, reaching a height of 122 meters above Jōgakura Creek in Towada-Hachimantai National Park.
The construction of this engineering structure was completed in 1995 at a cost of 87 billion yen, connecting the Tsugaru and Nanbu regions of Aomori Prefecture.
The bridge location offers views of traditional Japanese beech forests that transform into red and yellow colors during the October leaf-viewing season.
Visitors can reach the bridge by taking a JR bus from Aomori station to Jogakura Onsen, followed by a 30-minute walk through the mountain landscape.
The structure holds the record for the longest deck arch bridge in Japan with a span of 255 meters between each arch support.
