Talhaar

Talhaar is a village set among green meadows and terraced farmland at the foothills of the Margalla Hills. The settlement spreads across gentle slopes with agricultural fields and water sources that shape its physical layout.

The village developed as a farming community in the rural landscape near the capital's edge. In 2023, it became the location of a pioneering digital development pilot project in South Asia.

Residents practice traditional farming methods and keep cattle and water buffalo for their livelihoods. Small shops in the village serve local needs and welcome visitors passing through the area.

The village has no piped gas, so residents cook with wood and rely on government electricity supply. Wear sturdy shoes when walking through the area, as farm paths can become slippery after rain.

A natural mountain spring divides the terrain and influences how the village's fields and settlements are laid out. This water source has long shaped where people built their homes and how they use the land.
