The cenote extends 433 kilometers underground and reaches depths of 50 meters, featuring natural limestone formations and crystal-clear freshwater pools.
The geological formation of this cenote began over 65 million years ago when rainwater gradually eroded the limestone bedrock of the Yucatan Peninsula.
The name Ch'oojaj derives from Maya language meaning 'dripping water', reflecting the continuous process of water filtering through limestone ceiling.
Located at kilometer 180 of Chemax-New Xcan highway, the cenote welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM with an entrance fee of 50 pesos.
The cenote contains multiple colonnades formed by connected stalagmites and stalactites, creating natural jacuzzi pools within the cave system.
