Orlické hory Protected Landscape Area

Landschaftsschutzpark Adlergebirge is a nature reserve in a Czech mountain region known for its forested slopes, mountain meadows, and diverse plant and animal life. The landscape contains valleys and ridges connected by trails, with streams and geological features that shape the terrain.

The protected area was established in 1969 to safeguard the mountain landscape and its ecosystems. The region has been inhabited for centuries, with water mills and settlements that show how people adapted to mountain life.

The area remains shaped by mountain villages where people continue to live close to the land and its resources. You can observe traditional farming methods and old stone buildings that give the landscape its distinctive rural character.

The area is crossed by numerous marked trails for walkers and cyclists of various abilities. Winter brings snow sports opportunities, while the open terrain allows for a range of outdoor activities across all seasons.

Velká Deštná rises to 1115 meters as the highest peak in the range and offers sweeping views across the entire region from its summit. The climb is accessible via well-marked trails and rewards hikers with rare long-distance views of mountains, valleys, and neighboring areas.
