Dead Man's Hollow

Dead Man's Hollow Conservation Area spans 450 acres of dense woodlands, featuring 8 miles of trails and habitats for 111 bird species.

The land housed a quarry and the Union Sewer Pipe Company until 1920, when operations ceased after a fire destroyed the industrial facilities.

Local volunteers regularly maintain the trails and participate in conservation efforts to remove invasive plant species throughout the protected forest.

The Great Allegheny Passage provides access points through multiple trailheads, including entrances at Catfish Pond and Calhoun Road.

The area received its name in 1874 when local youths discovered an unidentified body, leading to numerous tales about unexplained occurrences.
