Al-Aaimmah bridge, Steel bridge over Tigris River in Baghdad, Iraq.
The Al-Ayma Bridge stretches 370 meters in length and 21 meters in width, featuring four spans across the Tigris River in central Baghdad.
The bridge opened in 1983 and gained international attention in 2005 when a mass panic incident resulted in the deaths of 965 people.
The bridge links the predominantly Sunni district of Adhamiya with the Shiite area of Kadhimiya, serving as a physical connection between these communities.
The structure provides a critical transportation route for thousands of daily commuters, connecting eastern and western sections of Baghdad through vehicle and pedestrian lanes.
Following the 2005 tragedy, authorities implemented new crowd management systems and installed additional safety barriers along the entire bridge length.
