Paitava, Archaeological site in Parwan, Afghanistan.
The archaeological complex consists of multiple structures located 40 kilometers north of Kabul near the former city of Kapisa.
The Buddhist monastery at Paitava operated during the Kushan Empire period and received visits from Chinese pilgrim Xuan Zang in the 7th century.
The site contains numerous Buddhist sculptures depicting donors in Kushan dress and scenes such as The Twin Miracle of Water and Fire.
Archaeological research at Paitava requires special permits and coordination with local authorities due to the site's historical importance.
The monastery's artworks feature distinct representations of Buddha with fire coming from the shoulders, similar to Kushan king coin designs.
