Paktika Province

Paktika stretches across mountainous terrain with an elevation of 2306 meters, containing twenty districts including Zurmat, Barmal, and Dila districts.

The provincial administration transferred from Urgun to Sharana during the 1970s to establish better connections with major highways linking Kabul, Ghazni, and Kandahar.

The province maintains a population of 789,000 residents, where Pashtun communities represent 96 percent of inhabitants, alongside Tajik and Uzbek minorities.

Regular flights connect the provincial capital Sharana with Kabul, while road infrastructure continues developing through local construction initiatives across the region.

The Ghilji tribe, particularly its Kharoti and Sulaimankhel branches, maintains significant presence in Paktika, influencing local governance and social structures.
