Kārte Seh, Residential district in western Kabul, Afghanistan.
Karte Seh is a residential district in western Kabul with organized street layouts, multiple-story residential buildings, and wide avenues along Darulaman Road. The area has become home to numerous international organizations, diplomatic missions, and educational institutions that maintain offices and facilities here.
The district grew during the mid-20th century as a planned residential zone with modern infrastructure for Kabul. During the 1980s Soviet-Afghan War, humanitarian organizations opened medical facilities here to serve the local population and neighboring areas.
The district reflects Afghanistan's social diversity through its middle-class population, including members of the Hazara community and international residents.
The district connects easily to Karte Char and other western neighborhoods across the Red Bridge over the Chamcheh Mast river. Access to Kabul University, the Kabul Zoo, and several parks is straightforward from this location.
Multiple foreign embassies, including the Russian and Polish missions, chose to operate from this district. The American University of Afghanistan is also based here, making it a center for international presence in Kabul.
