Tajik–Afghan bridge at Tem-Demogan

The Tajik-Afghan bridge extends 135 meters across the Panj River with a width of 3.5 meters connecting two remote border regions.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers and international partners contributed 500,000 dollars to construct this border crossing, completed in November 2002.

The bridge stands near communities of Ismaili Muslims, linking populations who follow the guidance of the Aga Khan Foundation that funded the project.

The structure supports vehicles weighing up to 25 metric tonnes and operates as a crucial connection point for trade between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

This bridge represents the first of four crossings planned by the Aga Khan Foundation to connect communities along the Panj River border region.
