The museum building stands on the former estate of Benjamin Vicuña Mackenna, a prominent Chilean politician and urban planner from the 19th century.
The permanent exhibition presents collections of paintings, documents, and personal archives that illustrate the transformation of Santiago during the 1800s.
Located at Vicuña Mackenna 94, the museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 with free admission for all visitors.
The original structure served as Vicuña Mackenna's personal study and archive, receiving official recognition as a Historical Monument in 1992.
