Sánchez Carrión Province

Sánchez Carrión is an administrative province in the mountains and valleys of the La Libertad region with eight districts and Huamachuco as its administrative center. The terrain is marked by varying elevations and rural settlements spread throughout the entire province.

The area was home to ancient Andean cultures that left behind large stone structures like Marcahuamachuco, which demonstrate the engineering skills of earlier civilizations. These archaeological remains are scattered across high-altitude areas and show a long history of human settlement.
