Casa Grande District, Administrative district in Ascope Province, Peru
Casa Grande is an administrative district in Ascope Province covering varied land at an elevation of about 240 meters. The area includes different neighborhoods and settlements spread across roughly 677 square kilometers.
The district was formally established on January 21, 1998 as part of an administrative reorganization in Ascope Province. This change reshaped how the northern region was divided and managed.
Different neighborhoods like Chacarilla and Lache form the social heart of the district, where people gather for local celebrations and daily routines. Each area maintains its own traditions and way of life.
The district connects to surrounding areas via the Pan-American Highway, located roughly 48 kilometers north of Trujillo. Regular bus services and local transportation link the neighborhoods and larger regional cities.
The area receives minimal rainfall, averaging around 15 millimeters per year despite maintaining surprisingly high humidity between 74 and 81 percent year-round. This unusual weather pattern shapes how plants grow and how people adapt to the climate.
