Parque y reserva natural Chancaní, Nature reserve in Córdoba Province, Argentina
Parque y reserva natural Chancaní is a protected natural area in Córdoba Province, Argentina, covering dry woodlands and thornbush of the Chaco Árido region. The land includes open grasslands, wooded patches, and water sources that support a wide range of plants and animals adapted to dry conditions.
The land was originally earmarked for commercial development before being converted into a protected area. It became the first reserve in Córdoba Province to officially represent the Chaco Árido ecosystem.
Inside the reserve, visitors can watch armadillos, deer, and many bird species moving through dry woodland and thornbush. The trails pass through landscapes that communities in the surrounding area have long considered part of their everyday world.
The entrance closes during the early afternoon and after 6 PM, so arriving in the morning or late afternoon works best. Basic facilities such as restrooms, wood-heated showers, and cooking areas are available on site, and camping is free of charge.
After dark the reserve has almost no artificial light, since the entrances stay closed once the sun sets. This makes it an unexpected spot for stargazing and for hearing nocturnal wildlife that would otherwise go unnoticed.
