Quilombo

Quilombo is a municipality in western Santa Catarina covering approximately 279 square kilometers at an elevation around 420 meters. The town maintains direct road links with eight neighboring municipalities, including Coronel Freitas, Entre Rios, and Santiago do Sul.

The settlement began in 1940 when families from Rio Grande do Sul arrived to establish new communities in this region of Santa Catarina. These founding families formed the basis for the area's development.

The town reflects the heritage of German, Italian, and Polish settlers whose descendants maintain traditions rooted in their families' origins. This mix of backgrounds shapes how locals celebrate and gather together throughout the year.

The best time to visit is during warmer months when roads and routes are in good condition. Keep in mind this is a rural area that operates at a slower pace than urban centers, so adjust your expectations accordingly.

The Salto Saudades waterfall system, located about 15 kilometers from the town center, features a sequence of cascades flowing through the municipal territory. This natural formation represents one of the most striking water features of the region.
