Quilombo extends across 279 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 420 meters above sea level in Santa Catarina state.
The settlement began in 1940 when families from Rio Grande do Sul moved to this region of Santa Catarina to establish new communities.
The population of 10,937 residents includes descendants of German, Italian, and Polish immigrants who shaped the local traditions and customs.
The municipality maintains direct road connections with eight neighboring towns including Coronel Freitas, Entre Rios, and Santiago do Sul.
The Salto Saudades waterfall system, located 15 kilometers from the town center, forms a sequence of cascades through the municipal territory.
