Boa Viagem

Boa Viagem is a coastal neighborhood in Recife that stretches along a wide beach spanning several kilometers. During low tide, natural pools form between coral reefs, creating spots for swimming and exploration.

The area's name comes from an 18th-century church built by Father Leandro de Carvalho and dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem. This religious foundation shaped the district from its earliest days.

Dona Lindu Park, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, serves as a gathering space where locals and visitors encounter art exhibitions and live performances. The open grounds encourage people to spend time outdoors while engaging with contemporary cultural events.

The beach is easily accessible and busy throughout the week, especially on weekends and during warmer months. Local restaurants and shops line the coastal streets, offering everything visitors need for a day by the water.

The coral reefs along the shore do more than create natural pools – they actively protect the beach from strong waves and erosion. This ecological role is often overlooked by visitors but deeply valued by residents.
