Manicaland

The province extends across 36,459 square kilometers of diverse landscapes, including mountains, valleys, and plateaus in eastern Zimbabwe, bordering Mozambique.

Established during the early colonial period as one of five original provinces in Southern Rhodesia, Manicaland developed through agricultural and mining activities.

The name originates from the Manyika people, who speak ChiManyika and maintain strong traditional practices alongside other ethnic groups like Ndau and MaUngwe.

The province contains seven rural districts and three urban areas, with Mutare serving as the capital and main transportation center for the region.

Manicaland houses Zimbabwe's three highest peaks and features extensive diamond mining operations in the Marange and Chiadzwa areas near Mutare.
