Kirumi Bridge

Kirumi Bridge is a cable-stayed structure that spans the Mara River and links two districts on opposite riverbanks. It has three main spans and carries two lanes of traffic across the water.

The bridge was constructed by an Italian company following designs from a Danish firm and completed in the mid-1980s. It marked an important improvement in regional transportation connections during that period.

The bridge carries a name known in local Swahili as Daraja la Kirumi, which is how nearby residents refer to it in their daily conversation. This bilingual identity shows how the structure has become woven into the community's language.

The bridge serves as part of a major regional road used daily by local traffic. Visitors should know it remains accessible in all weather conditions and can be approached from either riverbank.

The structure was built by an Italian steel company using plans from a Danish engineering firm, bringing international expertise to a local infrastructure project. This cross-border collaboration shaped the technical quality of the completed structure.
