Arusha Technical College, Technical education center in Ngarenaro, Tanzania
Arusha Technical College is a higher education institution for technical training based in Arusha, Tanzania, with two additional campuses in Oljoro and Kikuletwa. It offers programs at several certification levels, from basic courses up to engineering degrees, with specializations that include electrical and automation systems.
The college was founded in 1978 through a joint effort by the governments of Tanzania and Germany, under the name Technical College Arusha. It was formally renamed in 2007 following a restructuring that expanded its scope and degree offerings.
The college teaches in Swahili and English, drawing students from various regions across Tanzania and neighboring countries. The campus serves as a meeting place where people from different backgrounds study and work together.
The main campus is located within Arusha city and is easy to reach from the town center. The Oljoro and Kikuletwa campuses are further out, so it helps to plan your route in advance if you intend to visit them.
The Kikuletwa campus runs a real hydropower plant that also functions as a training facility for students. This means future engineers can work on an operating installation, not just models or simulations.
