Kampung Naga, Traditional Sundanese village in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia.

Kampung Naga is a village in the valley of the Ciwulan River in West Java, where around a hundred families live in wooden houses with long floor plans and roofs made of dried grass. The settlement sits lower than the surrounding fields and is enclosed by steep slopes.

The place took its name from a Sundanese expression for a spot at the edge of a cliff, which changed over time. The community has preserved its way of life for generations while combining elements from different religious influences.

Residents use only materials from the surrounding area to build their homes and craft many everyday objects by hand. Visitors often see women weaving textiles and men making tools from bamboo and wood.

Access is by a long stone staircase that descends from road level into the valley and requires some effort going up and down. The location between Tasikmalaya and Garut makes the village easy to reach for travelers in the region.

The community harvests rice twice a year from fertile soil while preserving a sacred forest that holds the graves of their ancestors. This forest remains mostly off-limits to outsiders and is entered only on certain occasions.
