Majalaya is an administrative district located in Bandung Regency, situated in West Java Province. The area comprises eleven villages spread across rolling terrain at an elevation of around 668 meters.
The district grew from farming communities that traditionally worked the land in the Bandung region. It was later formally organized as an administrative division to manage the area's rural population.
The district includes eleven neighboring villages, each maintaining distinct traditions within the larger Sundanese cultural framework of West Java.
Several villages are accessible on foot or by vehicle, with basic accommodations and local markets available. The best time to visit is during the drier months, as mountain roads can become difficult in heavy rain.
Census data from 2017 recorded 168,698 inhabitants spread across multiple settlements including Wangisagara, Biru, Padamulya, and eight other villages.
