Victoria Park Golf Clubhouse

The Victoria Park Golf Clubhouse is a Spanish Mission style building on Herston Road in Brisbane now used as office space. It features timber dance floors, private bars, and terraces with views of the city skyline.

The building was constructed between 1931 and 1948 as Brisbane's first public golf facility, making the sport accessible to ordinary people. It was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register in 1999, gaining protection as a heritage site.

The clubhouse was designed with separate areas for male and female golfers, reflecting the gender divisions of the 1930s in how people used the space. This spatial arrangement shows how social customs of the time shaped where different groups spent time.

The site is easily accessible from Herston Road with parking available near the entrance. Since the building now functions as office space, visitors should check in advance whether access is possible or if it can only be viewed from outside.

In the late 1970s and 1980s, the building became a popular nightclub and earned a nickname based on its colorful exterior paint. This shift shows how the place transformed with changing entertainment trends in the city.
