Built in 1928 by architects William and Alexander Curlett, the structure incorporated bricks from the old Los Angeles City Hall during its construction.
The headquarters served Anthony Heinsbergen's mural painting business, which created artworks for major buildings including the Los Angeles City Hall and Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
The National Register of Historic Places listing in 1984 ensures preservation of architectural elements including the Renaissance-style mural in the tower arch.
The building housed 185 artist painters who produced murals for significant structures across the United States, including the Department of Commerce in Washington DC.
