Attorney John O'Melveny purchased the land in 1941 as C.J. Ranch and later arranged for the city to acquire it at a reduced price in the 1970s.
The park serves as an educational space where visitors learn about California's native plants and observe local wildlife in their natural habitat.
Visitors can access the park daily from sunrise to sunset through the main entrance at 17300 Sesnon Boulevard in Granada Hills.
A grove of grapefruit trees near the entrance and commemorative plaques near the caretaker's residence mark this second-largest park in Los Angeles.
