United States Post Office, Federal post office building in downtown Phoenix, United States.

The two-story rectangular building features a tiled hip roof, Spanish Colonial Revival design elements, and three principal elevations with mirrored east and west sections.

Constructed between 1932 and 1936 by architectural firm Lescher and Mahoney, the post office opened on September 29, 1936 as a response to urban growth.

The building contains murals commissioned in 1938 by the Fine Arts Section of the Treasury Department, created by artists La Verne Black and Oscar Berninghaus.

The first floor maintains active postal services while upper levels house Arizona State University offices, student organizations, and the ASU Police Department.

Initial plans called for a six-story structure, but high land costs led to a redesign that resulted in the current two-story Spanish Colonial Revival configuration.
