Morcá

Morcá is a rural settlement located on rolling highlands between the municipalities of Topaga and Sogamoso in Boyacá department. The village sits on hillsides and centers around a small chapel that anchors the community's daily rhythms.

The region took shape after a small statue of Mary was found in a mountain cave during the 1700s, sparking local religious devotion. This discovery led to the establishment of the settlement and established the spiritual practices still visible today.

The chapel of the Virgin of O serves as the spiritual heart where locals gather for religious celebrations, especially in December with traditional observances. This devotion weaves through daily community life and shapes how residents connect with one another.

On the first Saturday of each month, the village transforms into a pilgrimage destination when visitors arrive to purchase traditional sweets and handmade clay items. These gatherings blend spiritual devotion with local craftsmanship and everyday commerce in an organic way.
