Osa Wildlife Sanctuary, Wildlife sanctuary in Piedras Blancas, Costa Rica.
Osa Wildlife Sanctuary is a rehabilitation facility on a secluded beach near Golfo Dulce where injured and abandoned animals receive care. The property spans about 64 acres and sits within dense tropical forest beside Piedras Blancas National Park.
The facility opened in 2003 when Carol Patrick converted an eco-lodge into a rehabilitation center. This marked the beginning of organized rescue and care for injured animals across the Osa region.
The sanctuary connects with local communities who bring injured wildlife, forming a network of environmental protection across the Osa Peninsula.
Access is only by boat and visits happen during set hours. It is important to reserve ahead and check the current operating times before planning your trip.
Each animal species has specially designed play areas that support natural behaviors. These individual spaces help animals prepare for eventual release during their recovery.
