Aqueduct of Padre Tembleque, 16th century aqueduct in Zempoala and Otumba, Mexico.

The water transport system extends for 45 kilometers between Zempoala and Otumba, featuring three main arcades with a total of 126 arches.

Franciscan friar Francisco de Tembleque initiated the construction of this hydraulic system between 1553 and 1570 to supply water to local communities.

The structure represents a combination of European architectural knowledge and indigenous building techniques, demonstrating the technical capabilities of colonial Mexican engineering.

Visitors can access the main viewing point near Santiago Tepeyahualco by car, with the tallest section measuring 38.75 meters in height.

The hydraulic system includes underground passages, surface-level canals, and elevated arcades that transport water from the Tecajete volcano across multiple valleys.
