Emiliano Zapata

Emiliano Zapata is a municipality that stretches along the Usumacinta River in southeastern Tabasco, featuring forests, grasslands, and farmland. Federal Highway 186 runs through the territory, connecting it to Villahermosa and the Guatemalan border.

The territory became a municipality in 1965 through a state congress decree, breaking away from Montecristo as a separate entity. This administrative change marked a turning point for local government development in the region.
