Los Novillos National Park

Los Novillos National Park is a protected reserve covering about 38 hectares in a valley surrounded by hills and crossed by Las Vacas Stream. The landscape contains several lagoons and is covered with native trees including walnut, oak, willow, and poplar.

The park was established on June 18, 1940, when the Mexican government began protecting natural areas as part of a national conservation effort. This decision was part of a broader movement to preserve wetland and river landscapes across the country.

The park serves as a gathering place where visitors from Ciudad Acuña spend weekends swimming in natural pools and enjoying time with family. This regular use shapes how the place feels and reveals its importance to the local community.

The reserve sits about 31 kilometers from Ciudad Acuña with hiking trails and swimming areas available throughout the grounds. Visitors should plan to come during drier months to find the best conditions for outdoor activities.

A natural spring feeds the lagoon system and creates small cascades that shimmer in the light. This water movement enlivens the otherwise quiet landscape and draws fish and birds to the area.
