Pederson House and Water Tower

The Pederson House is a residence featuring American Craftsman architecture with a functional water tower at California Lutheran University. The structure sits at the intersection of Regent Avenue and Faculty Street and displays the handcrafted details common to homes of that era.

Norwegian immigrants Lars and Karn Pederson built this farmhouse in 1913 as part of early settlement in Conejo Valley. The structure was relocated about 500 feet and renovated in 1986 when the university needed space for new construction.

The house reflects the Norwegian settlement heritage that shaped early development in the valley. Its presence on campus reminds visitors of the immigrant communities who first built homes in this area.

University alumni raised 125,000 dollars in a single day to prevent the structure from being torn down for a new science building. This dramatic rescue effort reflects how deeply the community valued preserving this piece of local history.
