Sherwood Country Club, Private golf course in Lake Sherwood, California.
Sherwood Country Club is a private 18-hole golf course situated at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains south of Thousand Oaks, California. The Georgian-style clubhouse sits surrounded by rolling hills and overlooks the surrounding valley.
The golf course was built during the 1980s and served as host for the Shark Shootout tournament between 1989 and 1999. Tiger Woods' World Challenge was held here from 2000 to 2013.
The property name originates from the 1921 filming of Robin Hood with Douglas Fairbanks Sr, which transformed the area into Sherwood Forest.
The club opens Tuesday through Sunday between 9 AM and 5 PM and offers members access to tennis courts, swimming pools, and fitness facilities. The property sits within a residential area and is restricted to members and their invited guests.
The neighboring Lake Sherwood was built in 1904 and remains California's oldest artificial lake. The area served as a filming location for the 1921 Robin Hood movie with Douglas Fairbanks and was later renamed after Sherwood Forest.
