Drift Creek Falls, Natural waterfall in Drift Creek Wilderness, Oregon.
Drift Creek Falls is a waterfall in the Drift Creek Wilderness of the Siuslaw National Forest that drops into a moss-covered pool surrounded by dense Douglas fir and hemlock forest. The water cascades in several tiers to create a series of smaller pools visible from different points along the hiking route.
The Drift Creek Wilderness area was designated as protected land in 1984 as part of a broader conservation effort in the Oregon Cascades. This designation helped safeguard the forest and waterways of the eastern coastal mountain range for future generations.
The waterfall serves as an educational site where visitors learn about Pacific Northwest ecosystems through interpretive signs along the hiking paths.
The hiking route is roughly 3 kilometers and passes through forest with uneven ground and wet sections. Good footwear and careful footing are important, especially after rain.
A striking suspension bridge crosses the canyon directly above the waterfall pool, offering a direct view of the falling water against dark basalt rock from its center point. This crossing is positioned near the main waterfall and creates a remarkable viewing angle from an aerial vantage point.
