Roads End State Recreation Site, State recreation area in Lincoln City, Oregon.
Roads End State Recreation Site is a coastal recreation area south of Lincoln City with tide pools, small offshore islands, and a sheltered cove. Access to the cove requires walking through a pebbly path near a creek mouth.
The state acquired this shoreline between 1968 and 1971 to establish public beach access in northern Lincoln County. This acquisition opened the area to public enjoyment and exploration.
From October to May, locals place handmade glass floats along the beach for visitors to discover and keep as souvenirs. This seasonal practice creates a playful connection between the coastal community and its guests.
At low tide, you can walk around Roads End Point to explore more beach areas, but you need to monitor tide schedules carefully. Plan to return before the water rises to avoid getting cut off.
The northern stretch of beach is lined with small cottages that extend toward Roads End Point, giving the shoreline a residential character. These homes blend the private and public spaces in an unusual way for a state recreation site.
