Fillmore and Western Railway, Heritage railway museum in Fillmore, United States.
Fillmore and Western Railway is a railway museum in the Santa Clara River Valley that displays vintage locomotives, passenger cars, and freight equipment collected over many years. The collection spans different eras and comes from various sources and operators.
The line was established in 1887 by Southern Pacific Railroad and connected San Francisco with Los Angeles. After 1904, it declined as a major transport route and eventually became a museum location.
The railway served as a filming location for hundreds of movies and television shows, becoming deeply connected to how trains appeared on screen. Visitors can walk through the same spots where these scenes were shot.
The museum grounds are easy to walk through and offer different angles to view the displayed equipment. Plan time to see both the locomotive collection and the smaller detail pieces scattered around the property.
A turntable built in 1906 was installed on the site in 2007 and enhanced the museum's operational capabilities. This device once helped turn locomotives around and remains a functioning piece of railroad history on display.
