Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is a multi-story building made of steel, glass and concrete with 2,494 hotel rooms along the Las Vegas Strip in Clark County. The property includes a casino with gaming tables and machines, as well as a theater with about 7,000 seats.
The Tallyho Hotel opened in December 1962 without a casino and closed in 1963; it reopened as the King's Crown Tallyho before Milton Prell bought it and reopened it as the Aladdin on April 1, 1966. That Aladdin closed on November 25, 1997, and its tower was imploded on April 27, 1998, while the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts was kept. The new Aladdin opened on August 18, 2000, and the property became Planet Hollywood on April 17, 2007.
The showroom, now PH Live, opened in 1966 as the Bagdad Theatre with 500 seats and was kept when the Aladdin tower was imploded in 1998. It now holds 7,000 people. The resort's Hollywood theme appears in movie-themed rooms and celebrity-named penthouses, and the adjacent mall was renamed Miracle Mile Shops.
The property stays open around the clock and offers barrier-free access to all areas. Visitors can enter directly from the Strip and find lodging, dining and entertainment in one location.
The Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts, now PH Live, was kept when the old Aladdin tower was imploded on April 27, 1998, and folded into the new resort. The 7,000-seat venue is thus the one part of the property that predates the 2000 rebuild.
