The District at Green Valley Ranch, Mixed-use retail complex in Henderson, Nevada.
The District at Green Valley Ranch is a mixed-use complex in Henderson, Nevada, where shops, restaurants, offices, and apartment units are spread across several interconnected buildings. National retailers such as Anthropologie and REI are found alongside dining spots including Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que and P.F. Chang's.
The complex opened in April 2004 as the first development of its kind in the Las Vegas Valley, introducing a format that mixed living and shopping in a single walkable area. A second construction phase was completed in August 2005, adding more space to the original layout.
The buildings are designed to look like a traditional downtown street, with storefronts facing open walkways instead of an enclosed mall corridor. People tend to linger on the outdoor terraces and plazas rather than moving quickly from shop to shop.
The whole area is easy to walk, with paved paths linking the different buildings and sections throughout. Visiting on a weekday or in the morning tends to make moving around more comfortable, as the open walkways can get crowded on weekends.
The apartments are built directly above the shops and restaurants, so residents can reach them by simply walking downstairs. This kind of fully integrated living and commercial layout was not seen elsewhere in the Las Vegas Valley when the complex first opened.
