Yuzhong District, Administrative district in Chongqing, China
The Yuzhong peninsula stands between the Jialing and Yangtze Rivers, forming the central district of Chongqing with dense clusters of tall buildings.
During the Second Sino-Japanese War from 1937 to 1945, the Nationalist Government of China established their headquarters in the Yuzhong district.
The district maintains the Jiefangbei central business district, which represents the evolution of western China's commercial traditions and modern financial development.
Four metro lines connect Yuzhong's subdistricts, with Lines 1, 2, 3, and 6 providing transportation access throughout the densely populated urban area.
The district's geographical constraints between three water boundaries led to vertical development, resulting in concentrated high-rise construction across the peninsula.
