The site contains remains of residential structures, mining operations, and work areas that formed the core of daily life for those who worked there.
The settlement emerged in the 1880s when prospectors discovered mineral deposits and established mining operations that grew rapidly. Residents abandoned the site within a few decades as mineral reserves depleted and the economics of extracting ore no longer supported the community.
The drive to this remote desert site requires advance planning and checking conditions beforehand. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and sturdy shoes since the ground is uneven and covered with scattered debris and broken stone.
