Scheibbs District

The Scheibbs District spans 1,023.5 square kilometers across Lower Austria, containing 18 municipalities including the central town of Scheibbs at 463 meters elevation.

The district establishment dates back to 1868, following administrative reforms during the Habsburg Monarchy period that structured the regional governance system in Austria.

Each municipality within the district maintains its own traditions through yearly events, local governance structures, and community gatherings centered around Austrian customs.

The district offices process administrative documents, including marriage licenses and identification papers, serving a population of 42,006 residents across all municipalities.

Scheibbs became the first location in Austria to implement electric street lighting in 1886, marking a technological milestone in the country's infrastructure development.
