Niagara Falls, Natural waterfall in Ontario and New York, North America.

Three waterfalls, including Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls, cascade down a combined height of 51 meters along the Niagara River.

The falls formed approximately 10,000 years ago during the Wisconsin glaciation period when melting ice sheets carved through the Niagara Escarpment.

Father Louis Hennepin provided the first detailed European documentation of the falls in 1677, leading to centuries of artistic and literary interpretations.

Visitors can experience the falls from multiple viewing platforms, boat tours, or underground tunnels on both the American and Canadian sides.

The waterfalls process more than 168,000 cubic meters of water per minute during peak hours, generating substantial hydroelectric power for both nations.

A bit disappointed by the overly commercial environment of the site that one imagines to be more protected and natural!
