Kreis 3

Kreis 3, also known as Wiedikon, comprises three neighborhoods: Alt-Wiedikon, Sihlfeld, and Friesenberg. The district contains a mix of residential buildings, green spaces, and local shops spread across its urban layout.

Originally an independent municipality with agricultural lands, Wiedikon was incorporated into Zurich in 1893 during a period of regional expansion. This merger transformed the area and brought urban development to what had been countryside.

Wiedikon railway station provides connections to lines S2, S8, and S21, making it easy to travel to other parts of the city and beyond. The A3 motorway offers road access to other regions of Switzerland.

The Sihltal Zurich Uetliberg Bahn railway company runs its headquarters from this district and manages transportation services across the region from here. This railway company has shaped local travel connections for many decades.
