Minhang District, Administrative district in southwestern Shanghai, China
The district spans 371 square kilometers and contains both residential neighborhoods and industrial zones, with the Huangpu River flowing through its territory.
Originally an agricultural region, Minhang District transformed into an urban area following the 1992 merger with Shanghai County and subsequent economic development.
The district houses multiple educational institutions, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University and East China Normal University, which contribute to its academic environment.
Six metro lines connect Minhang to central Shanghai, while a bike-sharing network of 20,000 bicycles provides additional transportation options for residents.
The district contains Qibao Ancient Town, which features traditional architecture, canals, temples, and local food establishments within two square kilometers.
