Yau Ma Tei is a metro station beneath Nathan Road in Yau Tsim Mong with four platforms spread across two levels. The station serves two separate lines, the Kwun Tong line and the Tsuen Wan line, each with its own set of tracks.
The station opened in 1979 with only its upper level, then expanded in 1982 when the Tsuen Wan line began operation. This addition doubled the station's capacity and made it a major transfer point between two separate lines.
