Tseung Kwan O, Bay in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong
Tseung Kwan O is a bay area in the northern section of Junk Bay that was transformed into a modern urban district through extensive land reclamation works. The waterfront now features residential neighborhoods, commercial zones, sports facilities, and broadcasting centers alongside accessible public spaces and transportation hubs.
This former fishing inlet became the focus of an ambitious government development project beginning in 1982, when Hong Kong initiated large-scale reclamation to create a new urban district. The planned transformation reshaped the landscape and eventually established it as a major residential and economic center.
The area includes modern sports facilities such as the Hong Kong Velodrome and Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground, which host national and international competitions.
Direct MTR metro trains connect the area efficiently to central Hong Kong with frequent service throughout the day. Multiple bus routes and the vehicular tunnel also provide alternative transit options for visitors arriving by different modes.
The area houses TVB City, one of Asia's largest television production centers where popular series are created alongside major film productions. This media hub sits adjacent to an industrial estate mixing traditional manufacturing with contemporary production spaces.
