Cheung Tsing Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge at Rambler Channel, Hong Kong.
Cheung Tsing Bridge is a cable-stayed structure that crosses the Rambler Channel and links Tsing Yi Island to Kwai Chung district. The bridge carries six traffic lanes and forms part of Route 3, connecting onward to the Cheung Tsing Tunnel for continued passage.
The bridge was completed in 1997 as part of Route 3 and the Airport Core Programme, significantly upgrading the connection between these areas. It replaced earlier transport methods like ferries and helped open up access across Hong Kong.
The name comes from the nearby Cheung Ching Estate, following a local custom of naming sites after neighboring landmarks. The bridge has become a familiar sight for residents and commuters who cross it regularly in their daily routines.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists is limited as the bridge primarily handles vehicle traffic, so use caution during peak hours when congestion is heaviest. The quieter hours offer a better experience if you need to cross on foot.
The bridge stands next to Tsing Yi Bridge, serving as the second crossing point between these two areas. This parallel arrangement allows traffic to be distributed more evenly and helps reduce bottlenecks.
