Cheung Tsing Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge at Rambler Channel, Hong Kong.
Cheung Tsing Bridge is a cable-stayed road bridge in Hong Kong that crosses Rambler Channel, linking Tsing Yi Island to the Kwai Chung district on the mainland side. It carries six lanes of traffic and feeds directly into the Cheung Tsing Tunnel at its western end.
The bridge was completed in 1997 as part of the Airport Core Programme, a large public works effort that built infrastructure around the new Chek Lap Kok airport. It formed a key section of Route 3, replacing older and slower crossings that had previously served the area.
The name comes from the nearby Cheung Ching Estate, following a local habit of naming infrastructure after neighboring residential areas. From the road, drivers and passengers can see densely packed housing blocks on both sides and the working harbor below.
The bridge is reserved for motor vehicles and cannot be crossed on foot or by bicycle, so anyone without a car should plan an alternative route. Public transport links in Tsing Yi and Kwai Chung provide good connections to the surrounding area.
Cheung Tsing Bridge runs directly alongside the older Tsing Yi Bridge, so two separate crossings span the same stretch of water side by side. This parallel layout is clearly visible from the water and makes the spot look different from most single-bridge crossings.
