Haikou Century Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Longhua District, Haikou, China.
Haikou Century Bridge is a cable-stayed structure spanning the Nandu River to link the main urban area with Haidian Island, measuring approximately 2,700 meters in total length. The central span reaches about 395 meters and features tall pylons with cables supporting the deck below.
Construction began in 1998 and was completed in 2003, representing a major infrastructure milestone for Hainan Province. The completion enabled direct access between previously separated areas of the city.
The structure draws evening visitors who come to photograph its illuminated form and watch the lights reflect off the river water below. This gathering place has become part of the local rhythm of how people spend their free time.
You can cross on foot or by vehicle, and you will see substantial traffic moving daily between the districts. Parking areas and other facilities are available beneath the southern approach if you need to stop.
Beneath the southern approach lies a hidden area containing electric vehicle charging stations and small retail shops. This concealed space adds a practical dimension that many visitors overlook when crossing the bridge.
