Hainan Center, High-rise building in Guoxing Avenue, Haikou, China
Hainan Center is a tower block in Haikou, on the island of Hainan in southern China, rising to 428 meters. The lower floors hold office spaces, while the upper floors are split between residential apartments and a hotel.
Construction began in September 2015 but stopped in 2018 when the developer ran into financial trouble. The project restarted in late 2023 under government supervision.
The building design by German architect Gunter Henn reflects modern architectural principles while contributing to the vertical development of Haikou's urban landscape.
The tower stands in central Haikou and can be seen from many parts of the city. Visiting during the day gives the clearest view of the building from street level.
The tower was designed by the German architectural firm Gunter Henn, which is unusual for a high-rise in a Chinese provincial capital. This choice reflects the international ambitions that guided the project from the start.
