Hainan Center is a tower block in Haikou, on the island of Hainan in southern China, rising to 428 meters. The lower floors hold office spaces, while the upper floors are split between residential apartments and a hotel.
The project began on 28 September 2015 as Haikou Tower 1, the tallest of ten buildings planned for the Hainan International Exchange Square. Construction halted in early 2018 over financial problems at owner HNA, and the main tower and second-largest tower were abandoned while other plots were sold. The government took over around early 2024, with China Railway Construction Corporation building and completion expected by late 2027.
The site is called Hainan International Exchange Square, and the ten-building scheme was split into two halves, five buildings on each side of Guoxing Avenue. The main tower, once known as Haikou Tower 1, was to be the tallest of the group, with the others ranging from 150 to 450 metres. The tower's upper hotel section is planned around a central void.
The unfinished tower stands on Guoxing Avenue, directly west of Haifu Road, in Haikou. It is an active construction site, so access is restricted and views are from the surrounding streets. The steel foundations were visible by December 2017, and work continues under China Railway Construction Corporation.
The tower's top hotel section is planned around a central void, and the floor plan sets a public observation deck on level 103, above a bar and restaurant on 101. Below ground there are two basement levels, and 51 elevators are planned to serve the 94 floors.
