Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo, Forest zoo with 3,000 animals in Nanjing, China
The zoo extends across 68 hectares of land covered by trees, featuring specialized exhibits including the Giant Panda Pavilion and Great Ape Pavilion.
The facility opened in September 1998 after relocating from its former location at Xuanwu Lake Zoo, which had operated since 1954.
In 2011, this establishment became the first zoo in China to end all animal performances, setting a new standard for animal welfare.
The zoo operates daily from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with entry tickets priced at 40 yuan, allowing one free child admission per paying adult.
Infrared cameras monitor the wildlife release area, enabling successful reintroduction programs for animals like porcupines into their natural environment.
