Huairen Hall, Government hall in Zhongnanhai, China
Huairen Hall is a building within the Zhongnanhai governmental complex in Beijing, containing a main hall that seats around 1000 people and a conference room on the upper floor. The structure combines traditional design with spaces organized for official gatherings and state functions.
The building was constructed in 1885 under Prince Chun's direction and served as a workspace for Empress Dowager Cixi until her death there in 1908. It became a significant venue during this period of transition in Chinese governance.
The hall represents Chinese administrative continuity through its function as the meeting place for the Politburo and other governmental committees.
The building is closed to public entry as it sits within the secured Zhongnanhai compound and operates solely for government functions. Visitors can view the exterior from surrounding areas but cannot enter the interior spaces.
The roof features multiple tiers of green glazed tiles in traditional Chinese style, creating a layered appearance. Grey brick walls are offset by red wooden architectural details that reflect the design choices of its era.
